Yeah, I caved. I added Google's AdSense to the blog. Hopefully you don't get too tweaked over it. I'm really more interested to see what sort of crazy junk is "sensed" by reading my posts :)

One of the joys you'll experience in raising children are the infrequent times in which you, your spouse and your little bundle of joy trade diseases around like Pokemon cards or cat's eye marbles, or whatever kids are trading these days.
Let me clue you in on a little secret: when you have twins, the game gets a whole lot tougher. You may recall I posted a few weeks ago about how everybody in the house was on antibiotics. Well, the kids finished round two, and now Steph and I are on our own round two. Man, this is fun! Father's Day was a blast. I got up, reeled around a bit and crashed back to bed, stricken with pharyngitis (or at least that's what the nurse ticked off on my check-out report). Steph managed to get out of the Doc-In-The-Box with an upper respiratory infection. Man it's more fun than a barrel full of monkeys tossing phlegm around in our house!
The part that really sucks though is that I'm trying to keep away from the kids lest they catch something (again) and give it back to me later (again). That's pretty hard :/

Ok, after further thought, I do understand it. One of NC's monikers is "the good roads state", so in order to keep said roads, er, good, taxes must be assessed. However, I do know that extra taxes are levied if the state doesn't meet clean air standards, and I would expect that an alternate fuel vehicle would not be subject to these fines, or at least a discounted rate based on the type of fuel used.

Wow. And I thought Borat was just making a joke. But as it turns out, the protein content is so low, the milk will not curdle and thus cannot be rendered into cheese. Additionally the addition of an acid into the milk to break down the proteins basically renders the milk useless because the proteins are easier to break down than cow's milk.
Well when it comes to infections, anyway. Devin has an IEI - that's an inner ear infection, at least in my book.
Its been a busy day. Adopting out a dog, pediatrician appointments and actually managing to get some work done. Although I'm struggling with getting my classic asp application to invoke some .NET assemblies, I think I found a solution. I'll just have my ASP page invoke an ASPX page. The ASPX page will call the assembly. Case closed.
Now if Devin will just get his ear fixed up we're all good.
We finally got Kirby adopted out. He'll be living on a 12 acre farm with goats, cats, and few other dogs. He'll have his own barn and dog house. We are quite happy about it. We have come to the opinion that most dog rescue groups are useless and rude.

It's obviously a slow week around the Internets when all one has time to worry about are the representative qualities of iconographic popsicles and cookies.
Popsicles I can somewhat understand - they are sickeningly sweet and refreshing. The cookies, however, are dull and tasteless. Well, unless you count cardboard and library paste as a taste.
Andy was showing me the blog entries of our "exciting" Memorial Day weekend *sigh* and I, with apparent Mommy-vision, noticed a discrepancy...Maya had more photos up than Devin. This is my attempt to level the playing field. :-)
I don't think I reported it here, but I guess I caught what the kids had/have. Got a bit of a fever that comes and goes. Feeling generally crappy, but hey, at least I can still write about it. Steph went the day without Darvocet, so she's happy that she's not feeling all drugged out. Again, props to Davis for picking up the slack whilst I'm out of commission.
Interestingly, I was feeling ok earlier and got a project done that I'd been planning on doing for a while. I have always wanted to get a backup camera for the van since you can't see a damn thing behind you. I stopped into Pep Boy's today to get something unrelated, and found that they had one of these VR3 units (it's less than this price at Pep Boy's). I installed it in about 45 minutes this afternoon, and it works like a charm. I had read some reviews that weren't so favorable for this particular unit, so I was prepared to return it, but I was pleasantly surprised that it works quite well. It's even in color! I have it tapped into the reverse lamp, so the camera only comes on when you put it into reverse.
Not much else to report... oh, I super-glued a broken refridgerator magnet commemorating my trip to Hawai'i. So you can see how exciting this Memorial Day has been. While I'm on that subject, let's pause a moment.

Last Monday, Steph and I took in the Roger Waters Dark Side of the Moon 2007 toour. Let me just say that it was an amazing show. 3 full hours with a 15 minute intermission, and a great encore performance. The first half of the show was devoted to some Pink Floyd classics from their discography: The Wall, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, A Saucerful of Secrets, Wish You Were Here, Animals (and feature a Pig flying out over the crowd), The Final cut, and some of Roger's solo material. The second half of the show was the entire Dark Side of the Moon album (I'm surprised they didn't have The Wizard of Oz playing on the video screen). Even though our seats were great, they had 3 video screens. One wide-screen about the size of an IMAX screen played a synchronized video, similar to The Wall movie, whilst to smaller screens flanking the larger played close-ups of the performers.
We had fantastic seats and really enjoyed the whole show. The Pig flying out over the crowd had some political statements on the side which really made us chuckle. Congrats, Roger and crew.
Well, a lot has happened this week. We had an orthotist appointment earlier this week, and things have progressed quite a bit. In case you didn't know, there is a ratio of front-back and side-side, which is expressed as a percentage. Normal is about 90%. Devin measures 91%, down from 95% which means he will probably get out of his helmet by the end of June. Maya is around 94%, down from 96%, so she'll be in her helmet probably until the end of July.
Steph had Moh's surgery to remove a basal cell that was the size of a dime on her forehead and underneath was the size of a fifty-cent piece. So the surgery was pretty intense, and they had to really stretch her forehead skin to stitch up the hole left, and she's been in quite a bit of pain the last few days. The swelling has gone down a bit, but she only has 1-2 hours of limited pain in a 6 hour stretch. As a result, we had to cancel a visit from Brian/Lara/Emma this weekend, and Steph was pretty bummed (as was Emma, I'm told).
To make matters more, eh, interesting, the kids both have sinus infections that turned to partial ear/eye infections. Great. But luckily we got some drops and their eyes have cleared up in 2 days. Noses are still crustified, and the kids are on antibiotics for the next 10 days. Things have been really fun around here. I have to give big thanks to Karyn and Davis for giving us a lot of help in the last few days to get everything resolved.
Oh - in other dog news, we took Sam and Tux to the Atlanta Humane Society. Kirby is still on the waiting list to get in there. AHS is no-kill, so I'm happy with that. I'll rant on "pet owners" in a future post, if I remember, but let's just say that it seems like a great majority of "pet owners" are irresponsible shits. Nuff said about that.
So that's the latest news from GA... more news as it occurs.
The Interesting, The Fascinating, The Bizzare
Not that I want to be political, but this is something everyone should see.
Kirby looks like a bit of a border collie / australian shepherd / rottie mix. He's probably 2 years old, but loves to play and gets along well with other dogs.
Tux (l) is a little more nippy, but somewhat smaller. Sam is a snuggle bug and loves to sit in laps.
I don't know that I blogged about this, but a few months ago I switched phones. I went from a Treo 650 (I loved it!) to a Razr V3i. Yeah, I know they aren't really the same type of phone, but I was assigned a Blackberry for work, and I didn't want to carry two PDA phones. So I went for a nice slim phone that slips easily in and out of pockets and has the features I want strictly for my phone: 1.2 MP camera, bluetooth, storage, and quad band. I got all that and more in my V3i, in a nice small package. So I use the Crackberry for PDA stuff, since I manage all of that via Outlook/Exchange, it's all synchronized.
I bought the phone from a feller on eBay - a Canadian feller. And as it turns out, the phone was branded for Rogers. Meh. All this time I haven't been able to browse the net (which is ok since work pays for it on me Crackberry), but most importantly, I haven't been able to send or receive picture messages. Well, no longer!
Yesterday I passed a T-Mobile store, and happened to walk in and ask since I remembered - they said to call TMo customer service and they will send the settings to the phone. I called them up, and bam, after 20 minutes, I can now send (and receive!) picture mail. Which means more phontograph blogging - so I know you'll be happy to hear that.
Today we took the kids down to the Georgia Renaissance Fest, which is actually pretty cool. The buildings are permanent, so it has a feeling of, uh, permanence. At any rate, here's the crew with the King and Queen. The King was sporting a gold-plated cup, er, codpiece. Very unnerving.
She's not an expert - yet. But she can get to where she wants to go. Lord help us...
No, I didn't put her up to this - in fact, I was at work while Mom and Karyn took some pictures of Maya at the helm of a laptop.
I just realized I haven't posted in almost a month. Sorry about that. I promise I'll be better. News? Not so much just yet. Kids are just a hair over 9 months old now, and we have a pediatrician appointment tomorrow. And, Steph and I are headed to JazzFest on Thursday, which will be a welcome break!
