You might recall I mentioned the joys of home ownership previously, and there is no doubt - it's the gift that keeps on giving. Depicted here is the copper pipe which developed a pinhole leak in the ceiling downstairs. The echoing of the needle-wide spray in the drywall went unnoticed by me for three days; perhaps I thought I was developing tinnitus. In the end I finally decided to investigate since the sound did not go away and was less that ten feet from my office. The drywall had become soggywall, and I punched a hole in the ceiling and found the leak.

A quick stop by the local hardware store yielded a Shark Bite connector. I spent some quality time with the pipes and a pipe cutter, and voila - no more leak. Oh, and word to the wise if you use a Shark Bite. Under no circumstances should you ever attempt to refit the Shark Bite after it has been installed while water pressure is in the pipe. I'm just saying. Maybe from experience, maybe not.
