This is just one out of many days we have whiled away at the pool. It's fun, cheap, relaxing and most of all refreshing about the last few 90F+ days we've had in Atlanta. Highlights include Devin's obsession with jumping from the diving board and Maya's frog-like abilities with swimming and balancing on a hand. I don't really know how that last bit is frog like, but I challenge you to come up with a better simile for something that swims well and balances on it's mother's hands. Anyway, that's the least important point.... enjoy the pix and movie!
It's June, and you know what that means! Well, maybe you don't. I don't necessarily know either. But hey, it's an excuse to post some more Twinkles pictures!
Here's Maya saying her blessing before having lunch.
And here's Devin, just finishing up his blessings.
We decided to walk down "to see the big diggers" at the construction site. It was after 7pm, so all work was stopped, and we got to walk down and touch the earth movers! Woohoo!
Andrew playing Connect Four! with some random couple at 675 Bar in the Meatpacking District. I can't recall, but I think it was a draw because they ran out of chips.
Crying Chocolate, a dessert at Buddakan.
No, unfortunately we did not get to see Dave Matthews Band at the Beacon Theatre, but it probably rocked nonetheless.
Walking around past Julliard.
As I mentioned previously, I spent a week in New Jersey, and we managed to (or rather had to) escape down into the city for proper meals. Let me just say that the fare around the Teterboro airport is, um, rather lacking as evidenced by this. Anyway, I digress. Off to New York City:
Times Square, natch. This is about 11pm.
Getting teabagged in the hotel:
View from the Empire State Building (note to self - next time bring a real camera!)
And who knows why I took this, but we walked right by. The strangest part? Seeing L. Ron Hubbard books in the window displays translated into Asian-Pacific languages like Thai. The book covers really do look Xenian.
After a busy three weeks both on and off road, we had some time to settle down as a family and enjoy the great weather this weekend in Atlanta. Highlights:
Walking down to the front of our neighborhood and watching the construction on our new bridge. The road is closed, and we can perch on the neighborhood sign and watch the comings and goings of bulldozers, front loaders, dump trucks, cranes, and of course the ever-present construction workers.
On our various walks, we pass by a neighbor with these flowering plants that are all a-twitter with bumblebee activity. The twinkles love to watch the bees gathering nectar and bear witness to the miracle of pollination (thank you, Bee Movie, for putting that into animation).
And of course our next-door neighbor's tree is a perfect perch for climbing. Maya and Devin took turns cheesing for the camera as Uncle Davis stood behind me making faces to elicit responses. Said responses:
