Tom is Ironman's aim. I'm sitting here driving down I-5 towards Los Angeles. I see a billboard with iron man's hand outstretched and his palm turned up towards the fire is the pulser flag or whatever it is out of his palm. So, how did he actually make sure that the angle of the palm in the 360 whatever degree range of motion he hits the target. Is it a shot gun? What's the deal? listen

UPDATE:
Wow, sometimes Jott just doesn't get it right. This post was supposed to read as follows:
How does Iron Man aim? I'm sitting here, driving down I-5 towards Los Angeles, and I see a billboard advertising the new Iron Man movie. It depicts the Fe-ller with his arm outstretched and his palm up, at a 90 degree angle to his arm. If you weren't aware, Iron Man has palm-mounted weaponry that fires some sort of energy beam. That got me to wondering: How would he aim such a device? Usual practices in aiming of traditional projectile firearms including calibration of the barrel (arm/parm) of the device to ensure they are level. Then you would have a sight, presumably from the back of the barrel to the front (shoulder to palm? or back of the hand to the palm?). The user then eyes the sights to the target, and corrects for trajectory calculations (wind, distance, target motion, etc). The trigger is pulled and voila, it is done.
So how exactly might that work for Iron Man? I'm assuming that the beam fired would be like a laser, and would not be subject to gravitational forces: the beam would continue in a straight line from the generating mechanism until... well until something happens, anyway. In that case, there would be any number of calculations about angles of the wrist (pitch, yaw, roll), arm (same), shoulder (same). Then of course the sighting mechanism would have to be calibrated to that.
You know, as I'm sitting here writing this I figured it out: he's wearing a mechanical suit that presumably has a computer. So at the critical point of firing the weapon, the suit should lock the palm/wrist/arm/shoulder in position to fully calculate the angle of attack. Simple enough. Why don't I just delete this post, then? Because my mental ramblings are fun to read!

I have a lot of excess brain power that is quite obviously put to less than trivial thinking.

Yes, but must we all be held a captive audience to it? *love you*
